Old fashion Ice Box Cookie Recipes
Filled Ice Box Cookies
1 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 t. vanilla
2 eggs - beaten
1 t. soda
2 2/3 cup flour
Mix in order , make into 2 rolls.  Put in frig overnight, then cut in slices. put filling
on and cover with another slice. Do not press down, even if tempted.  Bake at
350 degrees till done.
Filling
1 cup dates and 1 cup raisins ground together
3/4 cup of water
3/4 cup of sugar.
Cook fruit, water and sugar until thick.  About 25 double stacked cookies.


LaVerne's Ice Box Dessert
12 ounces of Chocolate Hydrox cookies - crushed on bottom and top of cake
pan.
1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water boiled to thread
Beat 2 egg whites until stiff - pour on syrup - cool a little.  Whip 1 package of
cream - fold in syrup mixture.  Color if desired.  1/4 t almond flavor. Crush salted
peanuts for top if desired.

Ice Box Dessert
1 can cond. milk - chilled
1 pkg. lemon jello
1 1/4 cup boiling water or fruit juice
1/3 cup honey (can use sugar)
3 T. lemon juice
Grated rind of 1 lemon
1/2 t. salt
1 can pineapple-drained
Vanilla wafers or graham crax - about 2 cups rolled
Dissolve jello in boiling water.  Add honey, juice, rind and salt.  Let stand until
slightly congealed.

Ice Box Cookies
2 cups sugar (1 brown)
1 1/2 cups butter
2 eggs
2 level teaspoon soda dissolved in 1/4 cup hot water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 1/2 cups flour
1 cup chopped walnut meats
1 cup ground raisins (Pour boiling water over raisins and let stand awhile.  The
drain and put through food chopper.)
Mold into two loaves and let stand overnight in a cool place.
