Vintage Brownie Recipes from kitchens past.
Mom's Cookie Recipes
Chewy Brownies
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
4 squares chocolate or 1 cup cocoa
1 cup flour
2 tsp. vanilla
12 T. shortening (This is what the lady typed on her recipe card, I have no idea if this is right!)
1 cups nuts
Beat eggs and sugar.  Melt shortening and chocolate together.  Add vanilla, nuts and flour.  Bake in a moderate oven for 30 minutes.  Cut in squares while warm.  Use a 9x12 pan is best.

Chocolate Chip Blonde Brownies from Mrs. Avanell Harbert recipe box.

1 cup of sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/8 teaspoon of soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of chopped nuts, black walnuts
1/3 cup of butter
1 cup of brown sugar, packed
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 package of chocolate chips

Melt butter in pan and remove from heat.  Add one cup of firmly packed brown sugar, mix well.  Cool slightly.  Then add, slightly beaten egg and one teaspoon of vanilla, blend.  Add flour mixture, small amount at a time, mixing well after each addition.  Spread in greased pan.  Sprinkle 1/2 package of chocolate chips over top.  Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.  Do no overbake.  Cool in pan.

Caramel Brownies

1/2 cup shortening or butter
1 cup brown sugar - packed
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour - do not sift
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup chipped nuts
Cream shortening, add sugar, mix we.., add eggs one at a time.  Beat well, add flour, salt, nuts and flavoring.  Bake 25 minutes at 350.  Cut in squares when warm.

This recipe was written in extremely shaky handwriting.  I imagine it belonged to an elderly lady.  Perhaps this was the last recipe she ever added to her recipe box.
Vintage photo was found in Logan, Ohio at a antique shop. I go there often in search of vintage recipes, photos or other cooking collectibles.

I remember my mom taking me to dance classes.  I had so much talent, I think I lasted two weeks.  Ballet was not for me!  Then again, neither was tap, nor any other form of dance.  I have no moves whatsoever!  lol

1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1 egg - not beaten
2 oz (squares) melted chocolate
3/4 teas. vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts
wax paper in pan
The lady included no other instructions, but I am sure you know what to do.

Brownie Delight from Seattle, Washington recipe box

Prepare cake-like brownies as directed on brownie mix - except omit nuts.
Meringue:
2 egg whites - beat until fluffy
1 cup brown sugar - add a little at a time
1 t. vanilla
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
Bake at 350 - 40 to 45 minutes.
